The wild and uncontaminated nature of the island is revealed in the Natural Arch, 200 meters above sea level in the cove of Matermania, result of the landslide of a cavity in Monte Tuoro, that erosion has then enlarged and shaped.

Going down We reach Cave of Matermania (or Matromania), where the rites in honor of Cybele the goddess of fecundity, took place. The mosaics decorating the walls are proof of the presence of a Roman nymphaeum. From that side on the promontory of Punta Massullo, the very particular shape of the "Casa come me", the villa built in 1936 by Curzio Malaparte can be admired, based on a design by the rationalist architect Adalberto Libera.
